Im not gaining any power from hollowing them out, and im not trying to focus on gaining sound. I already have the smell of gas, i just want them not to be burdening the car at all.

I started it up on a lift and found the culprit. The hollow cats were acting like an echo chamber. A very unpleasant hollow rattling exhaust noise was emanating from the catalytic converters.
